What do you get when you google “Erotic Audio for Women”?
Mostly, you get links to audio porn and articles with titles that are variations on “The Umpteen Best Places to Find Hot Audios.” (Listicles—articles written in a list-based format—do well in the algorithm, so everyone uses them.) These lists skew towards the 25-35 age range that tends to be the target demographic for the sites listed (although the 18-25 group is apparently a fast-growing segment of their audiences). So unless you fit in that particular box, they are not helpful.
Pacing the floors in Morningstar Manor (it’s how I do my best thinking), I pondered this state of affairs. Comically, it occurred to me that the landscape of erotic audio reminds me of what life was like with books in the prehistoric era (i.e. when I was in the 25-35 age demographic). Remember, dear reader: Al Gore had not yet invented the internet.
In rough Roxy-esque equivalencies, this is how it shakes out:

My local library had a book store where I used to buy them by the bagful. I had favorite authors, but really just wanted the stories; and lots of them.
Dipsea, Audiodesires, Emjoy and similar sites fall into this category.

Having indicated your preferred genre, you got the selections provided by the company.
Best Kept Secret is currently the sole occupant of this slot. Stories feature listener POV stories with dominant male leads, portrayed by their troupe of VAs.
Borders Books/Barnes & Noble/Library
These were the places one went to explore new and unfamiliar stuff. You would have hits and misses, but plenty of opportunity to browse and find something to your taste—best-sellers and hopefuls, alike

Fans followed the work of their favorites and were perpetually on the edge of their seats, breathlessly awaiting what came next. If the internet had been around in its current form, there would have been fandoms involved. For sure.
Gaelforce, Matthew Tower, and Orcus Auditory have carved out spaces for themselves here by building communities to complement their content.
So what is a grown-ass woman supposed to do?
The most important thing—and this is the hill on which I will die—is for each woman to find the content that is right for her. That is why I don’t do much in the way of “reviews” or critiques here: people like what they like. I will give notes directly to individual creators when they ask me to. I do highlight creators sometimes and have no problem gushing (no pun intended) over great work. Or Gaelforce.
Here’s the thing: with all the talk of erotic audio “taking off” since the pandemic hit, content for grown-ass women can be a challenge to find. I’m talking about fully-formed (grown-ass) adult male voices performing authentic, sexy content with grown-ass themes, settings, language, and sensibilities: voices of men who express a certain care, lust, and reverence for women.
Although Dipsea and Quinn are ubiquitous in the above-mentioned lists, they expressly target young women and that is reflected in their content as well as their social media presence. Moreover, the folks at Quinn consider it to be a porn site, so there’s that.
Hey, sometimes it’s not that deep and you just want to cum. There is plenty of audio porn designed just for that purpose, including content by some very good erotic creators. But porn is about body parts. It is intended as masturbation support and aims directly for the genitals. Erotica is about people, experiences. It aims for points north (e.g. mind, heart) and genital sensations are the lovely bonus.
Quinn can be valuable, though, for discovering voices you like. Vanilla Audio can serve that purpose, as well. Both of these sites provide opportunities for creators to get paid for their work, and they make it easy for them to do so.
Ah, yes! There’s still a question on the table, isn’t there? Well, here’s what THIS grown-ass woman has done:
In an earlier post, I said that I would provide a list of creators and the platforms on which they can be found. I’m calling it The Rox List. Essentially, it is the list I use to keep track of creators, minus my analytics and comments. The checkmarks are all clickable and there are both free and paid platforms included. It is a dynamic list, so it will change as items are added, deleted, or corrected.
Please don’t read anything into the presence or absence of any particular creator or platform. These are simply the voices/creators and platforms that I watch and/or have written about. Some are not even properly in the erotic audio space - yet. The purpose of this list is to help you wade through this very chaotic space. The only thing I am promoting is erotic audio and I sincerely hope everyone can find something—or many things—that truly tickles their fancy.
Corrections are welcome and will be prioritized.
